Privacy Policy

1. What this extension does

Prompt Directory is a Chrome extension that provides a sidebar of AI prompt templates. You can browse a built-in library of prompts, save your own custom prompts, and insert them directly into AI chat interfaces such as Claude, ChatGPT, and others.

2. Data we collect

We collect no personal data. Specifically, we do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or any identifying information
• Your browsing history or activity on any website
• The contents of your AI conversations
• Any analytics, usage telemetry, or crash reports

3. Data stored on your device

The following data is stored locally in your browser using the Chrome Storage API and never leaves your device except as described in section 4:

• Custom prompts — prompts you write and save in My Prompts
• Prompt chains — multi-step sequences you build
• Business Profile — name, audience, products, and tone you enter to auto-fill prompt placeholders
• Favourites, ratings, and usage counts — your personal preferences
• Collections — prompt groups you organise
• Recently used prompts — the last 20 prompts you inserted
• UI preferences — sidebar width, compact mode, collapsed state (stored in localStorage)

You can export all of this data at any time via the Export button, and delete it by uninstalling the extension or clearing your Chrome storage.

4. Chrome Sync

Some preferences (favourites, Business Profile, collections, ratings, and usage counts) are stored in chrome.storage.sync. If you have Chrome Sync enabled on your Google account, Google will sync this data across your devices in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We have no access to this sync data.

5. Network requests

The extension makes the following outbound requests:

• Prompt library updates — the extension periodically fetches an updated prompt library JSON file from GitHub. This request contains no personal data; it is a standard file download.
• Licence validation (Pro users only) — if you activate a Pro licence key, that key is sent to our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) to verify its validity. No other personal data is included in this request.

No other network requests are made.

6. Third-party services

The extension does not include any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking libraries. Affiliate links shown in the sidebar (free plan only) are standard hyperlinks — clicking them opens the third-party website in a new tab, subject to that site's own privacy policy.

7. Permissions explained

• storage — to save your prompts, profile, and preferences locally
• activeTab — to insert a prompt into the active chat input when you click Insert
• Host permissions (claude.ai, chatgpt.com, etc.) — to inject the sidebar only on supported AI chat sites

8. Children's privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
